Scott Walker Signed 51 New Bills Into Law Late Friday Afternoon

Late Friday afternoon, Gov. Walker signed 51 bills into law.  Here is what just a few of the new laws will do:

  • Eliminate voter registration from high schools and some tribal schools
  • Prohibit insurance providers from providing coverage for abortion service and require a 24-hour waiting period before a doctor can perform an abortion (to make sure the patient’s choice is “informed”)
  • Require schools that teach sex ed to promote abstinence and inform students of the “benefits of marriage”
  • Prevent people subjected to workforce discrimination from seeking compensatory or punitive damages
